2026 review
Jesse Scholtens worked mostly in relief for TBR, posting a 4.34 ERA and 1.34 WHIP in 47.2 IP with a 17.7 K% and a 7.2 BB% over 209 BF, and his 23.9 CSW% over 773 pitches was the 48th lowest of 517 pitchers with 100+ BF. Optioned and recalled repeatedly in Mar and Apr, he then went down with a right wrist sprain to the 15-day IL May 26, took a rehab assignment Jul 7 and again Jul 17, was activated Jul 23, and was optioned and recalled several more times through Sep 27, missing 58 regular-season days. Drafted at NFBC ADP rank 840, he finished 625th of 1472 in the TDK LABS 5x5 value rank, and 260th of 575 RP. His ERA cooled after the IL, a 3.82 ERA in 37.2 IP before it against a 6.30 ERA in 10.0 IP after activation. Opposing hitters fared worse against him from the right side, .228/.301/.402 over 103 PA, than lefties, .289/.336/.619 over 107 PA. His 4.34 ERA ran 0.85 below his 5.19 xERA over 209 BF. By early May the TDK LABS card had him as a reliable innings-eater; by late Jul it still had him weeks from returning off the wrist, and by the finale it had him as a roster fill-in with no set role.
