2026 review
Jesús Luzardo was an elite strikeout starter whose stuff missed bats deep into starts, a 32.0 CSW% over 2864 pitches the 22nd highest of 517 pitchers with 100+ BF and a 30.3 K% over 730 BF the 37th highest of the same 517. He went 14-5 with a 2.86 ERA and 1.07 WHIP in 179.2 IP across 29 GS for PHI, striking out 221 while walking 52. He was placed on the 15-day IL Sep 15, retroactive to Sep 12, with left shoulder inflammation, and activated Sep 27 after missing 15 regular-season days. Drafted at NFBC ADP rank 68, he finished 61st of 1472 in the TDK LABS 5x5 value rank, 7 spots above, and 9th of 236 starting pitchers. He was much tougher on left-handed batters, who hit .145/.193/.176 over 178 PA against him, than right-handed batters, who hit .235/.307/.378 over 555 PA. His best month was Sep at a 0.54 ERA in 16.2 IP, his worst Apr at a 4.76 ERA in 28.1 IP. The TDK LABS card had him in its auto-start tier by early May after a dominant outing against San Francisco, and by Jul it was still highlighting a 9 strikeout start with just an earned run allowed.
