2026 review
JJ Wetherholt was an everyday second baseman for STL who hit for average power and speed but couldn't convert his contact into results. He played in 139 games (135 starts) and hit .242/.339/.365 with a 16.8 K% and a 10.3 BB% over 619 PA, adding 17 HR, 14 SB, 89 R and 51 RBI. STL selected his contract Mar 25, and a right wrist tendinitis sent him to the 10-day IL Aug 30; he was activated Sep 16, missing 17 regular-season days. Drafted at NFBC ADP rank 249, he finished 128th of 1472 in the TDK LABS 5x5 value rank, 103rd of 660 hitters, 121 spots above his ADP rank, and 12th of 75 second basemen. His .318 wOBA ran 29 points below his .347 xwOBA over 619 PA. He hit .289 over 90 AB in his best month, Jun, and just .200 over 95 AB in his worst, Aug. By early May the TDK LABS card had him locked into the leadoff spot after a run of home runs in late April, and by early Jul it credited him with sustaining contact and multi-homer power. By early Sep it noted the wrist tendinitis that sent him to the IL, and by late Sep it had an extended cold spell and the wrist issue keeping him out of the finale.
