Joe Mantiply was a control-oriented lefty reliever who missed most of the year to injury, a 3.33 ERA and 1.22 WHIP in 27.0 IP over 25 games, a 4.5 BB% over 111 BF that was the 9th lowest of 517 pitchers with 100+ BF, but an 8.0 SwStr% over 399 pitches that was the 48th lowest of 517. He signed a minor league contract Mar 3, had his contract selected Apr 5, went on the 15-day IL May 19 retroactive to May 18 with left knee inflammation, was transferred to the 60-day IL Jun 3, took rehab assignments Aug 19 and Aug 25, was activated Sep 1 after missing 106 regular-season days, and was designated for assignment Sep 21. Undrafted in NFBC drafts, he finished 465th of 1472 in the TDK LABS 5x5 value rank, 216th of 811 pitchers and 146th of 575 relievers. His 3.33 ERA ran 2.07 below his 5.40 xERA over 111 BF. By Sep 19 the TDK LABS card had him pitching left-handed matchups out of the Toronto bullpen.
