2026 review
Joey Ortiz was a modest-power shortstop who hung around the middle of the infield all year: he hit .270/.328/.402 with a 19.8 K% and an 8.4 BB% over 415 PA for MIL across 134 games, adding 9 HR and 9 SB. Drafted at NFBC ADP rank 421, he finished 258th of 1472 in the TDK LABS 5x5 value rank, 163 spots above, and 21st of 61 shortstops. His .321 wOBA ran 24 points above his .297 xwOBA over 415 PA. The TDK LABS card tracked a bumpy read on him: by early May it had him back at shortstop as others sat, by late Jun it had called for a fade, and days later it had him squeezed into a platoon role with a cold bat while still flagging the expected line for a possible rebound. By late Sep the card had him listed as day-to-day with a handful of physical concerns.
