2026 review

Jonah Heim was a low-average backstop who found a lefty-mashing niche: he hit .204/.262/.366 in 358 AB with a 17.9 K% and a 6.9 BB% over 390 PA across ATL and ATH, adding 13 HR. ATL signed him as a free agent Feb 10 and designated him for assignment May 4; he moved from ATL to ATH, with his last game for ATL on May 3 and his first for ATH on May 6. Drafted at NFBC ADP rank 1153, he finished 740th of 1472 in the TDK LABS 5x5 value rank, 413 spots above, and 27th of 103 catchers. His .275 wOBA ran 10 points below his .285 xwOBA over 390 PA. Against left-handed pitchers he hit .267/.321/.534 over 159 PA, against right-handers just .160/.221/.250 over 231 PA. His best month was Jun at .283 over 60 AB, his worst Aug at .148 over 81 AB. The TDK LABS card tracked the move: by early May it had him designated for assignment with a short-term opening at catcher on his new club, by late Jun it had his power emerging in a platoon role there, by early Sep it had him an everyday catcher leaning on his edge against left-handers, and by late Sep it had him a primary catcher going quiet at the plate.
