2026 review
Jordan Montgomery spent most of the year rebuilding before he ever threw a pitch that counted, and once he did the results were uneven: a 4.15 ERA and 1.00 WHIP in 26.0 IP over 13 games for TEX, with a 19.2 K% and a 5.8 BB% over 104 BF, 1 W, 1 SV and 0 HLD. He signed as a free agent Feb 13, went to the 60-day IL Mar 8 recovering from Tommy John surgery, took rehab assignments Jun 21 and Jul 2, and was activated Aug 7, missing 135 regular-season days. Taken in 86 of 674 drafts, an occasional pick at ADP rank 1029, he finished 500th of 1472 in the TDK LABS 5x5 value rank and 168th of 575 relievers. His ERA ran 0.83 above his 3.32 xERA over 104 BF, and his best month was Sep at a 1.93 ERA in 14.0 IP against a 6.75 ERA in 12.0 IP in Aug. The TDK LABS card had him shifted to the bullpen on activation in early Aug, then by late Aug reading him as a long man with no save or hold lane, activated again for long-relief depth in early Sep, and by late Sep describing him as picking up saves out of middle relief rather than in a true closer's role.
