2026 review
José Soriano was a durable starter whose peripherals ran ahead of his results: he went 12 W, 8 L with a 3.91 ERA and 1.29 WHIP in 177.1 IP across 32 GS, with a 22.7 K% and a 9.8 BB% over 745 BF. He moved from LAA to TOR, his last game for LAA Jul 26 and first for TOR Aug 7, and his year opened strong before falling apart late, a 0.00 ERA in 12.0 IP in Mar against a 6.58 ERA in 26.0 IP in Sep. Drafted at ADP rank 312, he finished 502nd of 1472 in the TDK LABS 5x5 value rank, 190 spots below, and 77th of 236 starting pitchers. His 3.91 ERA ran 0.54 below his 4.45 xERA over 745 BF. The TDK LABS card shifted over the year: in early May it pointed to a high whiff total explaining a rough line, by early Aug it called the underlying metrics lighter than the surface numbers through a strong stretch, and soon after his move to TOR it noted his ERA running ahead of his FIP and expected average off a rocky debut. By late Sep it described him as a middle-rotation arm, citing the strikeout rate and elevated walks despite a rough recent stretch.
