2026 review

José Suárez pitched often in relief but never settled in: a 5.87 ERA and 1.61 WHIP over 61.1 IP across 45 games (2 starts) for ATL, SEA and ATH, with a 22.0 K% and a 9.7 BB% over 277 BF. He was claimed off waivers by BAL from ATL Jan 15, designated for assignment Jan 22, and claimed back by ATL Jan 26; a May 1 DFA sent him to SEA, and a May 13 DFA moved him on to ATH. He was on the paternity list Jun 29 to Jul 2, went to the 15-day IL Aug 12 with a right hip strain and missed 16 regular-season days, then was designated for assignment Sep 2 and released Sep 8. Drafted at NFBC ADP rank 866, taken in 31 of 674 drafts, he finished 1265th of 1472 in the TDK LABS 5x5 value rank, 773rd of 811 pitchers and 566th of 575 players at RP. Opposing right-handers hit .343/.414/.533 over 157 PA against his .238/.314/.343 versus lefties over 120 PA. His 5.87 ERA ran 1.60 above his 4.27 xERA over 277 BF. The TDK LABS card tracked the instability: by Jun 9 it saw a lefty drifting between long and middle relief with ratios sliding, and by Sep 2 it flagged fatigue after his hip-strain return.
