2026 review
José Trevino was a part-time backstop who struggled to make contact count this year: he hit .217 and an SLG of .336 in 152 AB, adding an OBP of .221, an 18.6 K% and a 0.6 BB% over 156 PA, with 5 HR, 19 RBI and 12 R in 48 games for CIN. A thoracic spine strain sent him to the 10-day IL on Apr 8, retroactive to Apr 5, and after a rehab assignment he was activated Apr 26; a left hamstring injury put him back on the 10-day IL May 17, and he returned Jun 14 after another rehab stint, missing 49 regular-season days across the 2 stints. Drafted at NFBC ADP rank 1279, he finished 1154th of 1472 in the TDK LABS 5x5 value rank, 412th of 660 hitters and 51st of 103 catchers. His .240 wOBA ran 18 points above his .222 xwOBA over 156 PA. By early May the TDK LABS card had him drawing a start off the bench while another catcher rested after a cold stretch; by August it read him as a part-time catcher whose early performance was fading, and by late September it had him contributing as a bench spark with little staying power.
