2026 review
Josh Smith battled 2 injured-list stints in a season that never got going at the plate. He hit .203/.290/.321 with a 23.0 K% and a 10.3 BB% over 243 PA in 80 games between TEX and TOR, with 6 HR, 23 R and 15 RBI. Drafted at NFBC ADP rank 337, he finished 1106th of 1472 in the TDK LABS 5x5 value rank, 769 spots below, and 47th of 75 second basemen. A right glute strain sent him to the 10-day IL May 5, retroactive to May 4, and after a rehab assignment he was activated Jun 15; he hit .217 over 92 AB before that stint and .192 over 120 AB after. He was optioned and recalled through the summer on Jun 19, Jul 1, Jul 9, Jul 25 and Jul 31, moved from TEX to TOR, then a left hamstring inflammation put him on the 10-day IL Aug 21, retroactive to Aug 20, before he was activated Sep 1; across the stints he missed 54 regular-season days. By May 8 the TDK LABS card had him sidelined by the glute strain while a teammate produced in his absence, and by Aug it described him settling into a new role with TOR after the move; by late Sep it had him back from injury but cold at the plate.
