A left elbow inflammation sent him to the 15-day IL on Jun 6, retroactive to Jun 5; he took a rehab assignment Jun 25 and was activated Jul 1, missing 26 regular-season days. Undrafted in NFBC drafts, he finished 383rd of 1472 in the TDK LABS 5x5 value rank, 155th of 811 pitchers, and 96th of 575 relievers. His ERA held close before and after the stint, 3.00 in 33.0 IP before it and 3.31 in 32.2 IP after. His fastball ticked up from 92.3 mph in Mar-Jun (204 pitches) to 93.3 mph in Jul-Sep (211 pitches). He had his best month in Jul, a 2.38 ERA in 11.1 IP, and his worst in Aug, a 5.79 ERA in 14.0 IP. By mid Sep the TDK LABS card had him working as a lefty relief piece in a pen built around matchups, and by late Sep it still liked his strikeout numbers even as his workload had tailed off some.
