2026 review

Juan Soto made contact and drew walks at an elite level, but his results trailed the quality of that contact: he hit .275/.393/.515 with a 13.5 K% and 16.2 BB% over 482 PA for NYM, adding 27 HR, 9 SB and 68 RBI in 111 games. A right calf strain sent him to the 10-day IL on Apr 6 (retroactive to Apr 4), activated Apr 22, and a left calf strain put him back on Jul 25 before he was activated Aug 29, missing 53 regular-season days in 2 stints. Drafted at NFBC ADP rank 4, he finished 81st of 1472 in the TDK LABS 5x5 value rank, 77 spots below, and 63rd of 660 hitters, 8th of 93 left fielders. His .385 wOBA ran 26 points below his .411 xwOBA over 482 PA. His 16.2 BB% and 13.5 K% over 482 PA were the 7th highest and 26th lowest of 267 hitters with 300+ PA, while his 13.9 Barrel% over 338 BBE was the 21st highest of 267. He hit better against right-handers, .279/.417/.566 over 314 PA, than against lefties, .268/.347/.430 over 168 PA, and his average dipped after the second IL stint, .283 over 293 AB before it against .252 over 107 AB after. The TDK LABS card had him reemerging at the plate by early May, and by late Aug and into Sep it kept reading his contact and discipline as elite, noting he'd been cleared after a hand injury late in the year.
