2026 review

Keider Montero started most of the year for DET, posting a 3.48 ERA and 1.04 WHIP in 155.0 IP across 32 games and 25 starts, with a 17.1 K% and a 5.9 BB% over 625 BF, going 10-9 with 1 SV. He was optioned Mar 4, recalled Apr 4, then placed on the paternity list Sep 12 and activated Sep 14. Drafted at NFBC ADP rank 935, he finished 201st of 1472 in the TDK LABS 5x5 value rank, 27th of 236 starting pitchers. His 7.9 SwStr% over 2305 pitches was the 41st lowest of 517 pitchers with 100+ BF, missing fewer bats than most who threw as much. The TDK LABS card flagged hard-contact issues weighing on his workload by late Jun, then by Jun 30 it had him moved to the bullpen after a returning starter reclaimed the rotation spot, and by late Sep it had him piggybacking behind an opener in a bulk role.
