He was optioned May 5, recalled Jun 15, then optioned again Sep 26, working steadily from 4.1 IP in Mar up through 16.2 IP in Aug. Taken in just 7 of 674 drafts, a rare pick, he finished 901st of 1472 overall and 578th of 811 pitchers, 445th of 575 at RP. His 4.92 ERA ran 1.27 above his 3.65 xERA over 268 BF, and the gap showed in his months: a 1.08 ERA in 16.2 IP in Aug against a 6.43 ERA in 14.0 IP in Jul. The TDK LABS card shifted its read across the year, from quantity-not-quality rotation depth in early May, to a multi-inning middle reliever with clean underlying metrics by late Aug, to a matchup-only lefty used in one-batter situations by late Sep.
