Luis Medina was a high-strikeout reliever who missed bats but still gave some back: he went 6-3 with a 3.08 ERA and 1.40 WHIP in 73.0 IP over 60 games, striking out 29.3% and walking 12.3% over 317 BF, with 13 HLD, and his 30.7 CSW% over 1272 pitches was the 43rd highest of 517 pitchers with 100+ BF. His 4-seam fastball climbed from 97.3 mph Mar-Jun (190 pitches) to 98.2 mph Jul-Sep (178 pitches). Undrafted in most NFBC drafts, taken in only 3 of 674, he finished 407th of 1472 overall in the TDK LABS 5x5 value rank and 115th of 575 relievers. His 3.08 ERA ran 0.79 below his 3.87 xERA over 317 BF, and his best month was Sep at a 0.77 ERA in 11.2 IP against a 6.75 ERA in 12.0 IP in Jun. The TDK LABS card had nothing on him but stale chatter in early May, then by mid-Jul called him a leverage arm, by late Jul had him climbing into setup work in a fluid pen, and by late Sep still saw him missing plenty of bats out of a bullpen without a settled hierarchy.
