Luis Rengifo was a light-power infielder who worked the count well but didn't do much with it: he hit .240/.319/.317 with a 13.8 K% and a 9.6 BB% over 354 PA between MIL and SDP, adding 4 HR, 6 SB and 34 BB against 49 SO. MIL signed him as a free agent Feb 16, then designated him for assignment Jun 16 and released him Jun 23; SDP signed him to a minor league contract Jun 29 and selected his contract Jul 8, with his last game for MIL on Jun 14 and his first for SDP on Jul 10. He went on the 10-day IL Aug 30 with a right knee sprain and was transferred to the 60-day IL Sep 1, missing 28 regular-season days with no activation on record through Sep 27. Drafted at NFBC ADP rank 399, he finished 592nd of 1472 in the TDK LABS 5x5 value rank, 193 spots below, and 30th of 67 third basemen. His .289 wOBA ran 15 points below his .304 xwOBA over 354 PA. The TDK LABS card had him as an inconsistent, cold-contact utility option by mid Jul, and by late Sep it had him out for the season with a torn ACL.
