Marcell Ozuna had a rough year at the plate for PIT, playing 70 games with 66 starts and hitting .203 in 251 AB with an OBP of .286, a SLG of .327, a 28.6 K% and a 9.6 BB% over 280 PA, adding 8 HR, 22 R and 29 RBI. He signed as a free agent Feb 16, played his last game Aug 1, and was designated for assignment Aug 5 before PIT released him Aug 6. Drafted at NFBC ADP rank 300, he finished 1060th of 1472 in the TDK LABS 5x5 value rank, 760 spots below, and 27th of 46 designated hitters. His .276 wOBA ran 28 points below his .304 xwOBA over 280 PA. The TDK LABS card had him getting maintenance rest in early May, then by late May called the bat cold with a shrinking lane; by mid Jul it had him moved up in the order into a favorable lefty matchup with power signs returning, but by early Aug it was describing him as a part-time DH whose contact had stayed cold even though the quality of contact behind it looked better.
