2026 review

Marcelo Mayer was a middle infielder whose year got swallowed by injury: he hit .209/.275/.295 with a 20.8 K% and a 7.3 BB% over 245 PA across 76 games for BOS and SFG, with 3 HR, 3 SB and 18 BB against 51 SO. A bone stress reaction to the left ulna put him on the 10-day IL Jun 26, he took a rehab assignment Aug 13, and he was not activated until Sep 21, missing 87 regular-season days in that stint; the move from BOS to SFG landed on the other side of the absence. Drafted at NFBC ADP rank 379, he finished 1132nd of 1472 in the TDK LABS 5x5 value rank, 753 spots below, and 48th of 75 second basemen. The TDK LABS card had tracked warming contact back in early May, then by late Aug was describing multiple setbacks stretching the return out, and by late Sep it saw him back from the long absence in a thin utility role with little room to get regular at-bats after a hitless Giants debut.
