2026 review
Mark Vientos was a first baseman who hit for some power but couldn't make consistent contact, striking out plenty against a low walk rate. Across 87 games and 70 starts for NYM he hit .212/.258/.394 over 295 PA with 13 HR, 28 R and 41 RBI. He posted a 24.1 K% and a 5.1 BB% over 295 PA. A right hand fracture put him on the 10-day IL Jul 10; he took rehab assignments Aug 20 and Aug 25 before activation Aug 31, missing 52 regular-season days. Drafted in most drafts at ADP rank 311, he finished 720th of 1472 in the TDK LABS 5x5 value rank, 409 spots below, and 39th of 65 first basemen. He hit lefties much better, .252/.296/.513 over 125 PA, than righties, .182/.229/.308 over 170 PA, and his .283 wOBA ran 21 points below his .304 xwOBA over 295 PA. The TDK LABS card had him locked in as the everyday cleanup hitter in early May with a run of production that confirmed the bat was coming alive, then by early Jul called him ice-cold and recently benched despite a hard-contact spike, and by late Sep had him back hitting cleanup against lefties as a platoon piece.
