2026 review
Mason Fluharty was a bullpen workhorse who missed bats and still walked too many, a 24.7 K% but a 10.6 BB% both over 263 BF, and it added up to a useful year out of the Toronto pen: over 83 games and 4 starts he posted a 3.30 ERA and 1.24 WHIP in 62.2 IP, going 7-1 with 1 SV and 20 HLD, allowing 50 H, 23 ER, 6 HR and 28 BB against 65 SO. Undrafted in NFBC drafts, he finished 326th of 1472 overall in the TDK LABS 5x5 value rank, 122nd of 811 pitchers, and 71st of 575 relief pitchers. He handled left-handed batters far better than right-handers, holding lefties to .144/.204/.200 over 139 PA against .302/.408/.462 over 126 PA for righties, and his 3.30 ERA ran 0.47 above his 2.83 xERA over 263 BF. His best month was Aug at a 0.00 ERA in 12.0 IP against a 6.30 ERA in 10.0 IP in Apr. Through the summer the TDK LABS card described him as a lefty specialist in a blurred bullpen role, a first save in early Aug hinting at more opportunity but no locked-in ninth, and by late Sep it still had him deployed in short bursts without a settled closing role.
