2026 review
Matt Brash was a dominant reliever when healthy, but his season kept getting cut short. He posted a 0.54 ERA and 0.84 WHIP in 16.2 IP for SEA, striking out a 23.4 K% against a 9.4 BB% over 64 BF, with 3 W and 6 HLD across 20 games. A right lat inflammation sent him to the 15-day IL on May 1, retroactive to Apr 30, and after a rehab assignment on May 14 he was activated May 20. He barely got back going before a right lat strain put him on the 15-day IL again on Jun 10, retroactive to Jun 9, a stint that was transferred to the 60-day IL on Aug 21 with no activation on record through Sep 27; across both stints he missed 130 regular-season days. Drafted at NFBC ADP rank 900, he still finished 315th of 1472 in the TDK LABS 5x5 value rank, 585 spots above, and 67th of 575 relievers. The TDK LABS card tracked the setback closely: by early May it had him just playing catch again with no mound timeline, by mid-Jun it noted the new strain was hitting the same spot that had sidelined him before, with no return expected until late summer, and by late Jul it had him eligible to return off the IL.
