2026 review
Matt Shaw was a part-time outfielder who could not stay on the field: he hit .237/.327/.410 over 202 PA with a 17.3 K% and a 10.4 BB% in 173 AB, adding 5 HR, 4 SB and 21 BB across 77 games and 42 starts. Mid-back tightness put him on the 10-day IL May 22, retroactive to May 20, with a rehab assignment Jun 2 before he was activated Jun 9, and a left-hand sprain sent him back down Jun 29, with a rehab assignment Aug 19 and activation Aug 28, 80 regular-season days missed across 2 stints. Drafted at NFBC ADP rank 241, he finished 932nd of 1472 in the TDK LABS 5x5 value rank, 691 spots below, and 329th of 660 hitters, 37th of 79 right fielders. His .325 wOBA ran 22 points above his .303 xwOBA over 202 PA. The TDK LABS card flagged an early rise in production in early May, with a strong recent stretch that included a homer and time in the lineup despite a utility tag, then by Jun 24 had him as the everyday right fielder in a scorching run with fresh pop and speed, before Sep 26 described him as a reserve bat with platoon tendencies favoring lefties.
