2026 review

Matt Vierling was a light-hitting outfielder who struggled against right-handed pitching, going .207/.255/.335 with a 16.8 K% and a 6.5 BB% over 291 PA, with 5 HR and 31 RBI over 92 games for DET. A left adductor strain put him on the 10-day IL on Jul 31, retroactive to Jul 30, and he was transferred to the 60-day IL on Sep 6, missing 59 regular-season days. Drafted at NFBC ADP rank 1194, he finished 1013th of 1472 in the TDK LABS 5x5 value rank, 181 spots above, and 350th of 660 hitters, and 42nd of 70 center fielders. Against left-handed pitchers he hit .257/.328/.438 over 119 PA, against right-handers just .173/.203/.265 over 173 PA. His .258 wOBA ran 46 points below his .304 xwOBA over 291 PA. By late Jun the TDK LABS card had him as a platoon bench piece, and by late Sep it had him still out on the 60-day IL, dealing with a lingering adductor problem along with some heel soreness.
