2026 review
Matthew Boyd was a mid-rotation lefty who missed a lot of time but pitched well after each return: over 22 games and 22 GS he ran a 3.91 ERA and 1.21 WHIP in 126.2 IP, with an 18.5 K% and a 7.5 BB% over 520 BF. A left biceps strain put him on the 15-day IL Apr 6 (retroactive to Apr 3), and after his Apr 22 activation a left meniscus injury sent him back down May 6 (retroactive to May 4); between the stints he missed 71 regular-season days before returning Jun 25. He was sharper after that longer absence, a 3.42 ERA in 102.2 IP after activation against a 6.00 ERA in 24.0 IP before it, then a 1.67 ERA in 32.1 IP in Jul against a 5.23 ERA in 31.0 IP in Aug. His 3.91 ERA ran 0.75 below his 4.66 xERA over 520 BF. Drafted at NFBC ADP rank 214 in 674 of 674 drafts, he finished 404th of 1472 overall in the TDK LABS 5x5 value rank, 190 spots below his ADP rank, and 62nd of 236 starting pitchers. The TDK LABS card noted a fringe roster piece in early May, a strong underlying profile with some hard contact by mid-Sep, and by late Sep settled on him as a reliable volume arm.
