2026 review

Max Schuemann was a fill-in outfielder who bounced up and down between NYY and its roster edges all year: he hit .194/.333/.361 with a 24.1 K% and a 13.8 BB% over 87 PA, adding 6 2B, 2 HR, 17 R and 3 SB across 42 games and 21 starts. After a Feb 6 designation by ATH he was optioned by NYY on Mar 21, recalled Apr 28, then shuttled between the majors and the minors on Aug 3, Aug 21, Aug 22, Sep 19 and Sep 22. Taken in just 37 of 674 drafts at ADP rank 913, he finished 1179th of 1472 in the TDK LABS 5x5 value rank and 429th of 660 hitters, 60th of 93 left fielders. The TDK LABS card followed his role the whole way: in early May it had him as roster-depth backfill without a real runway, by late Jun still a utility bat covering a roster need, by early Jul a platoon call-up with the underlying metrics strong but plate time capped, and by late Sep back up again filling a roster need.
