Michael Conforto was a power-driven designated hitter whose season held up despite a heavy strikeout rate: he hit .240/.331/.469 with an 25.5 K% and an 11.1 BB% over 314 PA for CHC, with 15 HR, 65 H and 45 RBI across 113 games and 73 starts. He signed a minor league contract Feb 26 and had his contract selected Mar 25, then ran a workload that climbed from 7 PA in Mar to 68 PA in Sep, passing through 31 in Apr, 55 in May, 42 in Jun, 58 in Jul and 53 in Aug. Taken in 326 of 674 drafts at NFBC ADP rank 1295, he finished 416th of 1472 in the TDK LABS 5x5 value rank, 233rd of 660 hitters and 17th of 46 designated hitters. His .343 wOBA ran 11 points above his .332 xwOBA over 314 PA. The TDK LABS card moved with him: an early May home run gave the first real power data point, by mid-Aug it had him as a platoon outfielder with fringe power whose looks depended on matchups, by late Aug it had him on a power pace strong enough to justify regular playing time despite a cold batted-ball stretch, and by late Sep it read the season as one of strong power and plate discipline running through a recent slump.
