2026 review
Michael Massey was a free-swinging second baseman who put the ball in play but almost never walked. He hit .272/.303/.428 with a 16.6 K% and a 4.6 BB% over 452 PA for KCR, adding 13 HR and 50 RBI. A left calf strain sent him to the 10-day IL Mar 25 (retroactive to Mar 22), then a rehab assignment Mar 31 and activation Apr 6; a concussion later put him on the 7-day IL Aug 27 (retroactive to Aug 26) before he was activated Sep 2, missing 19 regular-season days across 2 stints. Drafted at NFBC ADP rank 1258, he finished 253rd of 1472 in the TDK LABS 5x5 value rank, 170th of 660 hitters and 22nd of 75 second basemen. His 4.6 BB% over 452 PA was the 17th lowest of 267 hitters with 300+ PA. His best month was Aug at .338 in 65 AB against .246 in 61 AB in May. The TDK LABS card had the second base job settled in his favor by early May after a teammate's injury, tracked a power surge by mid-Aug with the schedule favoring right-handers, had him sidelined with a head injury by late Aug, and back with sound contact and regular reps by late Sep.
