Mickey Moniak was a power bat who could not get on base, hitting .238/.278/.480 with a 5.0 BB% over 436 PA for COL, the 21st lowest of 267 hitters with 300+ PA, and adding 23 HR. He opened the year on the 10-day IL for a right ring finger sprain, activated Apr 3, then went back down May 22 for right ankle tendonitis, took a rehab assignment Jun 18 and returned Jun 22 after missing 40 regular-season days in 2 stints. Drafted at NFBC ADP rank 234, he finished 208th of 1472 in the TDK LABS 5x5 value rank, 26 spots above, and 21st of 93 left fielders. His .322 wOBA ran 43 points above his .279 xwOBA over 436 PA, and he hit .320 over 75 AB in Jul against .150 over 60 AB in Sep. He hit .280 over 150 AB before the ankle stint and .213 over 254 AB after he came back. In early May the TDK LABS card had him running one of the hottest stretches in the lab, by mid Jul it had turned on him as a part-time outfielder with results ahead of the underlying contact, and by late Sep it still had him part-time and getting more from soft matchups than his underlying contact backed up.
