Miguel Vargas was a middle-of-the-order third baseman who combined patience with real power: he hit .250/.363/.474 with a 17.9 K% and a 14.3 BB% over 704 PA for CHW, adding 33 HR, 22 SB and 106 R across 159 games, with his 14.3 BB% the 12th highest of 267 hitters with 300+ PA. Drafted at NFBC ADP rank 271, he finished 13th of 1472 in the TDK LABS 5x5 value rank, 258 spots above, and 2nd of 67 third basemen. His .363 wOBA ran 15 points below his .378 xwOBA over 704 PA, and he opened cold before turning it around, .200 in 90 AB in Apr against .286 in 98 AB in Aug. The TDK LABS card followed that turn: by early May it had him pivoting out of the April slump on sustained contact, by late Jul it called him an elite everyday bat even through a brief slump it traced to the underlying contact and power grades, and by late Sep it had the midseason breakout holding through the stretch run with the power-speed combo intact.
