Nathan Church was a low-walk contact hitter whose season stayed steady but unspectacular: over 142 games and 122 starts he hit .247/.290/.364 with a 17.2 K% and a 5.3 BB% over 470 PA (434 AB), that walk rate the 25th lowest of 267 hitters with 300+ PA, adding 10 HR, 53 R, 50 RBI and 10 SB. A left shoulder strain sent him to the 10-day IL May 22, retroactive to May 21; he took a rehab assignment Jun 4 and was activated Jun 9, missing 19 regular-season days. Drafted at NFBC ADP rank 1234, he finished 269th of 1472 in the TDK LABS 5x5 value rank, 179th of 660 hitters and 21st of 70 center fielders. He hit .247 over 146 AB before the IL stint and .247 over 288 AB after he came back. His best month was Aug at .282 over 78 AB, his worst Jul at .145 over 76 AB. The TDK LABS card had him locked into the strong side of a corner-outfield platoon by mid-Jun even as the contact went quiet, and by late Sep, with him batting ninth, it still pointed to his everyday usage and contact baseline mattering.
