2026 review

Nick Castellanos signed with San Diego after Philadelphia let him go, and the year never got going: he hit .191/.221/.339 with a 27.9 K% and a 4.1 BB% over 122 PA across 39 games, 31 starts, with 4 HR and 20 RBI. Released by Philadelphia on Feb 12, he signed with San Diego on Feb 15, then was designated for assignment on Jun 3 and released Jun 5, with his final game coming May 31. Drafted at NFBC ADP rank 353, he finished 1169th of 1472 in the TDK LABS 5x5 value rank, 816 spots below, and 52nd of 79 right fielders. His .239 wOBA ran 46 points below his .285 xwOBA over 122 PA. The TDK LABS card called an early May homer a minor blip in an abysmal profile, then in mid-May pointed to a ninth-inning walk-off-tying shot as a moment that covered up an otherwise rough stretch against a tough slate of righties ahead. By early Jun it had him designated for assignment, ending his run as a rosterable bat, and days later it noted the roster spot was gone along with it.
