2026 review

Nick Madrigal was a bat-to-ball middle infielder who barely struck out and barely hit for pop, a 4.8 K% but zero home runs over 63 PA. He signed a minor league deal with LAA on Jan 9, had his contract selected May 27, then was designated for assignment Jun 22 and outrighted Jun 25 before signing a minor league deal with TBR on Jun 26; Tampa Bay selected his contract Sep 8 and optioned him Sep 17. Across 19 games and 63 PA he hit .278/.365/.315 in 54 AB with 7 BB against just 3 SO. Undrafted in NFBC drafts, he finished 1268th of 1472 in the TDK LABS 5x5 value rank and 56th of 75 second basemen. The TDK LABS card described him from the start as a contact-only bat with no power, and that read held through Sep, still calling him a singles-and-walks profile with no power by mid-month.
