2026 review
Nolan Schanuel was a contact-first first baseman whose bat had little thump behind it: he ran a 13.0 K% over 446 PA, the 21st lowest of 267 hitters with 300+ PA, but his 2.4 Barrel% over 340 BBE was the 18th lowest of 267 hitters with 300+ PA. He hit .276/.351/.385 over 446 PA for LAA with 7 HR, 43 R and 49 RBI across 107 games and 104 starts, missing time in 2 stints: placed on the 10-day IL May 27 (retroactive to May 24) with left ankle inflammation, taking a rehab assignment Jun 5 before activation Jun 6, then placed on the 10-day IL again Aug 22 (retroactive to Aug 21) with a right intercostal muscle strain and a rehab assignment Sep 13, missing 50 regular-season days in all. Drafted at NFBC ADP rank 298, he finished 320th of 1472 in the TDK LABS 5x5 value rank, 22 spots below, and 30th of 65 first basemen. He hit much better against right-handers, .294/.371/.409 over 327 PA, than against left-handers, .226/.294/.321 over 119 PA, and his best month was Jul at .338 over 77 AB against .227 over 88 AB in Apr. By early Jul, after the ankle issue, the TDK LABS card had him producing well in the short term but still questioning his output against left-handed pitching.
