Oneil Cruz hit for loud, damaging contact but swung through a lot of pitches. He hit .280/.368/.486 with a 33.2 K% and an 11.2 BB% over 419 PA for PIT, adding 20 HR, 30 SB and 65 R in 97 games. His 33.2 K% over 419 PA was the 5th highest of 267 hitters with 300+ PA, while his 53.7 HardHit% and 15.3 Barrel% over 229 BBE ranked 10th and 13th highest of that pool. Drafted at NFBC ADP rank 92, he finished 47th of 1472 in the TDK LABS 5x5 value rank, 45 spots above, and 5th of 70 center fielders. His .371 wOBA ran 19 points above his .352 xwOBA over 419 PA. Left hand fourth and fifth metacarpal fractures put him on the 10-day IL Jun 10, retroactive to Jun 8, then a transfer to the 60-day IL Jul 18 and a rehab assignment before he returned Aug 17, missing 70 regular-season days; he hit .264 over 250 AB before it and .314 over 118 AB after. His best month was Sep at .342 over 79 AB against .252 over 107 AB in Apr. By May 8 the TDK LABS card had him atop the order with a leading home run total, and by mid-Sep it read him as a speed-driven presence in the lineup.
