Osleivis Basabe was a light-hitting, glove-first second baseman who got regular run late in the year: he hit .202/.268/.341 with a 20.3 K% and a 6.3 BB% over 143 PA for SFG, going 26-for-129 with 5 HR, 13 R and 13 RBI over 46 games (34 starts). His contract was selected Jul 28, and his workload built from 2 games and 2 PA in Jul to 26 games and 96 PA in Aug and 18 games and 45 PA in Sep. Undrafted in NFBC drafts, he finished 1171st of 1472 in the TDK LABS 5x5 value rank and 423rd of 660 hitters, 51st of 75 second basemen. His .271 wOBA ran 12 points below his .283 xwOBA over 143 PA. The TDK LABS card described him in late Jul as a thin, unproven call-up, but by early Sep it was calling him the Giants' everyday second baseman, and by late Sep it noted he had come out of a game early with some tightness.
