2026 review
Peyton Gray was a middle relief arm who threw strikes but gave up some loud contact along the way: his contract was selected by TEX on Apr 23, and he settled into a multi-inning bullpen role, working to a 3.86 ERA and 1.30 WHIP in 56.0 IP over 49 games, with 6 W, 8 HLD, 2 BS, a 24.1 K% and a 6.8 BB% over 249 BF, allowing 9 HR along the way. A right elbow inflammation sent him to the 15-day IL on Aug 31, retroactive to Aug 30, and he missed 23 regular-season days before being activated Sep 22. Taken in just 3 of 674 drafts at ADP rank 650, a rare pick, he finished 447th of 1472 in the TDK LABS 5x5 value rank, 202nd of 811 pitchers and 134th of 575 relief pitchers. He handled left-handed batters better, a .216/.287/.333 line allowed over 123 PA, against a .286/.331/.527 line allowed over 126 PA to right-handers. The TDK LABS card had little to say on him in early May, then by mid-Jul described a fluid setup piece who had blooped through a scare; by late Aug it had him carrying a heavy workload with back-to-back outings raising fatigue concerns, and by late Sep, just back from the elbow stint, it had him as a low-leverage middle reliever who pounded the strike zone.
