Philip Abner shuttled between the majors and the minors all year, optioned and recalled repeatedly on Mar 22, Apr 29, May 1, Jun 4, Jun 7, Jun 20, Jun 21, Jul 9, Jul 20 and Aug 5 with ARI, before he was designated for assignment Aug 16 and claimed off waivers by SFG on Aug 19; he was optioned again, recalled Sep 7, optioned Sep 20, designated for assignment Sep 21, and claimed off waivers by NYM on Sep 23. Over that stretch he posted a 7.11 ERA and 1.68 WHIP in 19.0 IP across 13 games, with an 11.6 K% and a 12.8 BB% over 86 BF. Undrafted in NFBC drafts, he finished 1025th of 1472 in the TDK LABS 5x5 value rank, 673rd of 811 pitchers, and 512th of 575 relievers. The TDK LABS card kept him in the same spot all year: in early Jun it read him as a long reliever with no leverage or save path at the back of the ARI pen, in Jul it had him up for a depth shuffle, and by mid-Sep it described him as a waiver-claim depth arm in the bullpen before the late Sep designation for assignment and claim by NYM.
