Rafael Flores Jr.PIT · C/1B

2026 review

Rafael Flores Jr. was a part-time catcher who made the most of his time on the field, hitting .264/.331/.527 with 11 HR, a 27.6 K% and a 9.2 BB% over 163 PA for PIT. He shuttled through Pittsburgh's roster all year — optioned Mar 22, recalled Jun 10, optioned Jun 13, recalled Jul 8 — and a concussion sent him to the 7-day IL Jul 24, retroactive to Jul 23, costing him 9 regular-season days before he was activated Aug 1. Drafted at NFBC ADP rank 970, he finished 870th of 1472 in the TDK LABS 5x5 value rank, 311th of 660 hitters and 34th of 103 catchers. His .367 wOBA ran 17 points above his .350 xwOBA over 163 PA. He hit .313 over 67 AB in Sep against .212 over 66 AB in Aug. The TDK LABS card had him as a short-term fill-in catcher in mid Jun, when he announced his call-up with a multi-hit night, and by late Sep it had him breaking out as an everyday catcher-first bat, mashing at a strong pace and earning lineup responsibility.
