Rafael MarchánPHI · C

2026 review

Rafael Marchán was a seldom-used backup catcher whose bat never got going: over 34 games and 23 starts he hit .099 in 91 AB with 0 2B, 0 3B, 2 HR, 5 R and 6 RBI, posting a 15.8 K% and a 2.1 BB% over 95 PA. Left knee patellar tendinitis sent him to the 10-day IL on Jul 24, retroactive to Jul 23, he took a rehab assignment Aug 13, and he was activated Sep 1, missing 40 regular-season days in 1 stint. Drafted at NFBC ADP rank 973, he finished 1447th of 1472 in the TDK LABS 5x5 value rank, 101st of 103 catchers. By mid-Sep the TDK LABS card was describing him as a spare-role backup with little pop and weak overall production, freshly back from the IL. By late Sep the card still called his rate stats rough but flagged that his contact quality was reading better than the results, in what it framed as a late-season fill-in role.
