2026 review

Randal Grichuk was a power-over-everything designated hitter who hit for pop but rarely walked: .287/.314/.566 with a 21.8 K% and a 3.9 BB% over 280 PA (AVG and SLG in 265 AB), adding 25 2B, 2 3B and 15 HR with 41 R and 46 RBI in 117 games and 55 starts. He split the year between NYY and CHW — signed a minor league deal with NYY on Feb 25, had his contract selected Mar 25, was designated for assignment Apr 29, elected free agency May 1, and signed with CHW on May 4. Drafted at NFBC ADP rank 936, he finished 282nd of 1472 in the TDK LABS 5x5 value rank and 15th of 46 designated hitters. He hit lefties far better than righties, .327/.371/.655 over 178 PA against left-handed pitchers versus .220/.216/.420 over 102 PA against right-handers, and his .370 wOBA ran 35 points above his .335 xwOBA over 280 PA. The TDK LABS card's read shifted along the way: by early May it had him as pure organizational depth filling in for a teammate, and by mid Jul it was flagging him as a bench bat with a strong underlying power profile.
