Reid Detmers was a swing-and-miss starter who missed bats and mostly missed trouble too: he went 7-8 with a 3.36 ERA and 1.04 WHIP in 185.0 IP across 32 starts for LAA, striking out a 28.5 K% against just a 6.5 BB% over 740 BF. Drafted at NFBC ADP rank 332, he finished 143rd of 1472 in the TDK LABS 5x5 value rank, 189 spots above, and 29th of 811 pitchers, 17th of 236 starters. His best month was Aug at a 1.50 ERA in 30.0 IP, well clear of a 4.98 ERA in 34.1 IP in May. The TDK LABS card tracked that swing: in early May it was asking whether he had finally arrived after a sharp start, by late Jul it had him throwing plus stuff while working through a velocity dip and trade speculation, and by late Sep it read his command and strikeout rates as running ahead of a recent rough stretch that had pushed his ERA up.
