2026 review
Reiver Sanmartin pitched almost entirely out of the pen after a lost first half: 24 games, 0 starts, a 4.22 ERA and 1.36 WHIP in 21.1 IP, a 17.2 K% and a 7.5 BB% over 93 BF, with 3 W and 4 HLD. A right hip flexor strain put him on the 60-day IL on Mar 25, he took rehab assignments May 13 and May 19, and he wasn't activated until Jun 10, missing 87 regular-season days across 2 stints; he was optioned Jun 17, recalled Aug 3, optioned again Aug 19, recalled Aug 20, then placed on the 15-day IL Sep 19 retroactive to Sep 17 with a right oblique strain. Undrafted in NFBC drafts, he finished 556th of 1472 in the TDK LABS 5x5 value rank, 296th of 811 pitchers, and 211th of 575 relievers. The TDK LABS card followed the arc: by mid Jun it had him back after a hip issue had cost him the front half of his year, and by early Sep it described him as a multi-inning reliever with good stuff, coming off a strong run in the minors, his strikeout numbers holding up as the San Francisco bullpen shifted away from setup work and toward more ordinary middle-relief usage.
