2026 review
Richard Lovelady was a wild reliever who missed bats but walked his way into trouble: he posted a 4.11 ERA and 1.86 WHIP in 35.0 IP over 38 games with 3 W, 4 L, 4 SV, 10 HLD and 3 BS, striking out 31 with an 18.0 K% and a 14.0 BB% over 172 BF, bouncing NYM to WSN and back before a trade landed him in Washington on Apr 16. A left triceps strain put him on the 15-day IL Jun 29, later transferred to the 60-day IL, and after rehab assignments in September he was activated Sep 12 having missed 75 regular-season days. Undrafted in NFBC drafts, he finished 906th of 1472 in the TDK LABS 5x5 value rank and 447th of 575 relievers. His 23.9 Hard% over 113 BBE was the 15th lowest of 517 pitchers with 100+ BF, but his 14.0 BB% over 172 BF was the 31st highest of the same 517-pitcher pool. His 4.11 ERA ran 1.62 below his 5.73 xERA over 172 BF. The TDK LABS card had him in early rehab in early Sep, noted a narrow window right after his activation in mid-Sep, and by late Sep had him starting a bullpen game fresh off the triceps issue.
