2026 review

Ryan Fernández worked as a middle reliever for STL, posting a 3.52 ERA and 1.30 WHIP in 23.0 IP across 17 games, with a 28.0 K% and an 11.0 BB% over 100 BF and 2 holds. He shuttled between the majors and the minors on Mar 15, Apr 13, Apr 30, May 23, May 24, May 26, Jul 7, Aug 21 and Sep 4, and in between he was placed on the 15-day IL Jun 5, retroactive to Jun 3, for low back pain, taking a rehab assignment before he was activated Jun 30, missing 27 regular-season days. Drafted at NFBC ADP rank 651 and taken in just 3 of 674 drafts, he finished 558th of 1472 in the TDK LABS 5x5 value rank, 298th of 811 pitchers, and 213th of 575 relief pitchers. His 14.7 SwStr% over 387 pitches was the 34th highest of 517 pitchers with 100+ BF. The TDK LABS card described him in late May as bouncing between roster levels without a defined bullpen role to lock down, and by late Aug and early Sep it still had him as a middle reliever with swing-and-miss stuff but no set high-leverage spot.
