2026 review
Ryan Johnson missed a chunk of the middle of the year for LAA, finishing 5-9 with a 5.04 ERA and 1.39 WHIP in 100.0 IP across 22 games and 19 starts, an 18.1 K% and a 9.8 BB% over 437 BF. A viral infection put him on the 15-day IL Apr 6, retroactive to Apr 3, and after rehab assignments he was activated May 13, missing 40 regular-season days; he was optioned May 20, recalled Jun 18, optioned again Aug 1 and recalled Aug 3. Drafted at NFBC ADP rank 1019, he finished 1158th of 1472 in the TDK LABS 5x5 value rank, 744th of 811 pitchers and 192nd of 236 starters. His best month was Aug at a 1.71 ERA in 26.1 IP against a 7.89 ERA in 21.2 IP in Jul. The TDK LABS card had him back in a low-leverage bullpen role in mid-May, still lacking role clarity by mid-Jul despite a promising rehab arc, alarmed by a run of rough starts right after his Aug recall, and by late Sep was crediting his recent run more to matchups and venue than to a change in his underlying numbers.
