2026 review
Ryan McMahon was a strikeout-prone third baseman who never got the bat going, hitting .213/.279/.357 with a 29.4 K% and a 7.8 BB% over 360 PA for NYY, with 11 HR, 41 RBI and 3 SB across 124 games and 91 starts. That 29.4 K% over 360 PA was the 26th highest of 267 hitters with 300+ PA. A throat infection put him on the 10-day IL on Jun 24, retroactive to Jun 22, and he was activated Jul 3; a left thumb sprain did it again on Aug 21, retroactive to Aug 20, he took a rehab assignment Aug 29 and was activated Sep 1, and in all he missed 23 regular-season days over 2 stints. Drafted at NFBC ADP rank 415, he finished 670th of 1472 in the TDK LABS 5x5 value rank, 255 spots below, and 33rd of 67 third basemen. His .282 wOBA ran 15 points below his .297 xwOBA over 360 PA. The read on him moved around too: in early May the TDK LABS card had him in a quiet turnaround at the plate, by late Jun it had him cold and platooned out against left-handers, by late Jul a platoon bat, and by late Sep a hitter back from a thumb injury with modest production.
