2026 review

Santiago Espinal was a bench infielder who barely played, hitting .268/.276/.375 with 1 HR, a 13.3 K% and a 1.7 BB% over 60 PA for LAD. He signed a minor league contract Feb 17 and had his contract selected Mar 18, then was designated for assignment May 25 and outrighted May 28 before signing as a free agent with LAD on May 29; a second designation came Jun 16, another outright Jun 18, and he later signed minor league deals with TEX on Jul 2 and ARI on Aug 20. Taken in just 41 of 674 NFBC drafts at ADP rank 908, he finished 1262nd of 1472 in the TDK LABS 5x5 value rank, 489th of 660 hitters and 52nd of 67 third basemen. By early May the TDK LABS card read him as bench depth rather than a usage-locked starter after Roberts pinch-hit for him in a leverage spot, and by mid Jun it had him as a spot starter swinging a hot bat, doing real damage against right-handers even with the role keeping his volume thin.
