2026 review
Seth Lugo was a high-volume starter whose swing-and-miss stuff lagged behind his workload, and the results showed it. He went 7-9 with a 5.17 ERA and 1.47 WHIP in 172.1 IP for KCR across 32 games and 32 GS, with 134 SO and 54 BB against a 17.8 K% and a 7.2 BB% over 751 BF. A concussion sent him to the 7-day IL on Jun 12, retroactive to Jun 11, and he was activated Jun 19 after missing 8 regular-season days. Undrafted would not apply here: drafted at NFBC ADP rank 349, he finished 1467th of 1472 overall in the TDK LABS 5x5 value rank, 1118 spots below, and 231st of 236 starting pitchers. His 7.6 SwStr% over 2859 pitches was the 34th lowest of 517 pitchers with 100+ BF. His best month was Apr at a 3.16 ERA in 31.1 IP and his worst was Aug at an 8.31 ERA in 30.1 IP. In early May the TDK LABS card noted a quality-start rebound following a rough outing against the Angels, and by mid-May it flagged the curveball velocity dropping with contact management slipping. By late Jun it pointed to recent struggles following his return to action, and by late Sep it still called him a durable, high-volume pitcher working through recent volatility.
