Drafted at NFBC ADP rank 188, he finished 1146th of 1472 in the TDK LABS 5x5 value rank, 958 spots below, and 188th of 236 starting pitchers. Right-handed batters hit just .238/.286/.333 against him over 308 PA, while left-handed batters hit .277/.347/.436 over 463 PA. By mid-Aug the TDK LABS card said a rough outing had spooked opinion on him but that his skill metrics ran well below his ERA and a modest velocity dip was tolerable for a starter; by early Sep it was calling him a strong-ratio pitcher buried under a poor record.
